Beaufort Water Search and Rescue is a non profit all volunteer organization that helps respond to all water related emergencies and non emergencies.

🚨 South Carolina Hurricane Preparedness Month 🚨

Governor Henry McMaster has declared May as South Carolina Hurricane Preparedness Month, and now is the time to start preparing for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

Hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through November 30. While coastal communities are often at higher risk, hurricanes and tropical storms can bring flooding, storm surge, high winds, tornadoes, power outages, and other damage across the state.

This year’s theme is “Plan Ahead. Stay Ahead.” A little preparation now can make a big difference later.

Here are a few things you can do now:

âś… Know Your Zone
Find your hurricane evacuation zone before a storm is on the way.

âś… Prepare Your Home
Check your roof, clean gutters, review insurance coverage, and document your belongings.

âś… Remember Your Route
Know your nearest evacuation route and follow local guidance if an evacuation is ordered.

Residents can find hurricane preparedness resources, evacuation zone information, and the 2026 South Carolina Hurricane Guide at hurricane.sc.

Don’t wait until a storm is on the radar. Plan ahead now so you can stay ahead later.
