After 34 years in law enforcement, Detective Paul Beasley is retiring… again!

Paul retired from the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office nine years ago, but apparently retirement didn’t agree with him. So, he came over to the Port St. Joe Police Department and joined us part-time.

Now, after another nine years of putting up with us, Paul has finally decided it’s time to really retire.

He’s heading home to his garden, where he plans to spend his days watching a little Andy Griffith, taking naps in his recliner, and letting his wife, Barbie, continue doing all the hard work. 😂

I’ve had the privilege of working with Paul since 1997. Over all those years, he has become much more than a coworker. He is a friend, a brother, and someone I have been proud to serve alongside.

Paul, you’ve earned this retirement. Enjoy the garden, the recliner, the naps, and most importantly, the time with Barbie.

You will be missed around PSJPD. Thank you for 34 years of service to our community.

Congratulations, Detective Beasley — this time, try to stay retired! 👏🇺🇸

**STATEMENT REGARDING RACIST STICKER**

We are aware of a racist and offensive sticker that was placed on a bus stop in our community.

There is no place for racism, hate, or intimidation in Port St. Joe. Our community is stronger than the hateful actions of an individual who chooses to target others because of the color of their skin.

The location where this occurred makes the message particularly disturbing, and we understand why members of the community are upset and offended.

Our Police Department takes incidents like this seriously. We will document the incident, investigate any available evidence, and take appropriate action when the person responsible can be identified.

We also want to remind everyone that while people may hold different opinions and beliefs, there is a line between protected expression and conduct that violates the law. If you have information about who placed the sticker, please contact the Port St. Joe Police Department.

Most importantly, **we will not allow the actions of one person to define our community.** Port St. Joe belongs to all of us, and we will continue to treat every person with dignity, fairness, and respect.

Vehicle Recovery at Clifford Sims Park

The Port St. Joe Police Department would like to thank everyone who came together to recover the vehicle that crashed into St. Joe Bay at Clifford Sims Park.

A special thank you to:

• Tractor Work PSJ and Capt. Tim Brock
• Sea Tow Port St. Joe
• Panama City Fire Department Dive Team
• FWC Dive Team
• FWC Officer Jason Lipford

The dive teams worked to float the truck using airbags. Sea Tow then pulled the vehicle from the park to the City Boat Ramp, where Capt. Tim Brock and Tractor Work PSJ recovered the truck using a tractor and tow truck.

This was a true example of mutual aid and community partnership. Every agency and business involved donated their time and resources, and there was no cost to the City of Port St. Joe.

We are grateful for everyone who stepped up and helped get the job done.

When you see these folks around town, please take a moment to thank them. They answered the call and helped our community when we needed them.

Thank you all! 🇺🇸
