Communities Connected for Kids

Communities Connected for Kids Communities Connected for Kids is the lead agency providing community-based child welfare services in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties.

Communities Connected for Kids was established November 1, 2013, after the Department for Children and Families (DCF) awarded our nonprofit organization the contract to provide child welfare services in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. Our contract with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) established CCKids as the community-based care agency serving DCF’s Southeas

t Region. We are responsible for managing child abuse prevention and family preservation programs to help keep children safely in their homes, while also providing quality services to children in foster care and finding adoptive homes for those children in need of forever families. CCKids is one of 17 lead agencies throughout the state providing community-based care in child welfare. The State of Florida privatized child welfare in 1997, providing for local community ownership of service delivery and design of Florida’s child welfare system.

We’re incredibly grateful to the The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast for donating 20 family passes to support our Family Reunification Welcome Home Kits.

Because of them, families beginning their new chapter together will have a fun, meaningful place to learn, play, and bond.

Please show them some love for their community support! childrensmuseumtc.org

Let's kick off Reunification Month by celebrating a beautiful collaboration that’s helping families start their next chapter with joy, connection, and hope.

The Welcome Home Kit initiative began as an idea from our Caregiver Support Team at CCkids and came to life thanks to the generosity and hard work of Michelle Heath of Gobuildlove, Tim Geil of CarePortal, and the incredible students of Jupiter Christian School.

Each kit is filled with items that help families bond and create new memories—board and card games, sports balls, crafts, passes to local family attractions, and gift certificates for shared meals.

Together, we’re reminding families that reunification isn’t just a moment. It’s a beginning.

💙 Foster Parent Appreciation Month 💙
This month, we want to pause and say thank you to the incredible foster parents who open their hearts and homes to children in need. Your compassion, patience, and selfless love make a lifelong impact—often in ways you may never fully see, but that matter more than words can express.
You are everyday heroes, and we are so grateful for all you do.
If you’ve ever felt a nudge on your heart to make a difference in a child’s life, we invite you to learn more about becoming a foster parent.
