📚 FAST Progress Monitoring 1 (PM1) Testing Continues This Week!

Our Ospreys in Grades 3-8 will participate in PM1 assessments this week:

✅ Grades 3-5 Reading
📅 September 1-2

✅ Grades 6-8 Math
📅 September 3-4

To help students begin testing on time, please ensure they arrive at school before 8:45 a.m. Students may enjoy breakfast at home or take advantage of breakfast served at school before reporting to their assigned testing location.

Attendance and punctuality are important to a successful testing experience. We encourage all students to come rested, focused, and ready to show what they know.

What an incredible way to start the week!

On Monday, our students were welcomed through the Tunnel of Hope, surrounded by encouragement from community partners, district leaders, staff members, and supporters who believe in their success.

Thank you to everyone who took time to cheer on our Ospreys and remind them that they are valued, capable, and supported. Experiences like these help create a positive school culture and reinforce an important message: we believe all children are capable of success, no exceptions.

Together, we are building confidence, inspiring excellence, and creating opportunities for every student to thrive.

🚨 Reminder, Ospreys! 🚨

This Wednesday, August 26, is an Early Release Day with dismissal at 1:15 PM.

All K-8 students will celebrate with our exciting House Day Pep Rallies! 🎉

Students in grades 3-8 will also participate in Progress Monitoring Practice Tests to help prepare for upcoming assessments and build confidence with the testing format.

Make sure you're at school and on time so you don't miss the fun and preparation for upcoming assessments!

Meet One of Our Newest Osprey Team Members!

As we continue celebrating the outstanding educators joining Oak Hammock K-8 this school year, we'd like to introduce Mr. Dorcelia, our 5th Grade Math Teacher!

Mr. Dorcelia is already embracing The Osprey Standard, recently redeeming a Staff Osprey Standard Card at the Osprey Perch. At Oak Hammock, we believe in recognizing the positive contributions of both students and staff. Staff members can earn Osprey Standard Cards and redeem them at the Osprey Perch for fun treats and incentives.

Our student PBIS Store opens in just two weeks, where students will be able to redeem their Osprey Dollars for rewards and prizes.

Today, your child is bringing home a Book Buddy Lanyard with information about an easy and safe way to support our school through the SchoolStore Program.

The program is 100% online, so there is no selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Participation takes less than 12 minutes and helps raise funds for resources that directly support our students and teachers.

Getting started is easy:

Complete the online sign-up.
Send the provided emails to family, friends, and coworkers who may wish to support your child and our school.

Walker Dismissal Reminders for Oak Hammock Families 💜

As we prepare for the first day of school, please review our walker dismissal procedures with your child to help ensure a safe and orderly dismissal each afternoon.

📍 Walker Dismissal Location
All student walkers will be escorted to the crossing guard at California Blvd. & Savona Blvd.

⏱️ Walker Dismissal Occurs in Waves
To support student safety and an orderly dismissal process, walkers are released in waves, beginning with our oldest Ospreys and ending with our youngest students.

Families and older siblings who are meeting student walkers should wait at the California & Savona intersection, as students will be released directly to the crossing guard location.

Parents and siblings should not wait on campus for walker dismissal.

⚠️ Important Reminders
✅ All walkers cross with the crossing guard at California & Savona.
✅ Walkers must be able to leave campus independently.
✅ Staff supervision ends once students are released at the crosswalk.
✅ If your child is not able to walk independently, please choose Car Rider transportation.

🚸 Help Us Keep Our Ospreys Safe and Be Good Neighbors

For student safety, families should not park, wait, or arrange student pick-up in nearby private parking lots.

As members of the Oak Hammock community, we can be good neighbors by keeping business parking lots available for customers and ensuring students remain on designated pedestrian routes.

Please review these walker safety expectations with your child:

• Use sidewalks and designated crosswalks.
•Follow all directions from crossing guards.
• Do not walk through parking lots or between parked vehicles.
• Avoid areas that are not designated for pedestrian travel.
• Stay alert to traffic and surroundings.
• Walk directly home or to your family's designated meeting location.

🚗 New Afternoon Car Rider Dismissal Process Begins Monday!

To help us dismiss students more quickly and efficiently, Oak Hammock K-8 is implementing a new two-lane car rider dismissal process this school year.

✅ Important: This change applies to afternoon dismissal only.

Morning arrival procedures remain the same.

Here's what families need to know:
• Have your PikMyKid number ready at check-in.
• Pull into the next available lane and move all the way forward.
• Our new process allows staff to load up to 16 vehicles at one time, helping us reduce wait times.
• Follow all staff directions as we safely alternate vehicle movement.
• Please be patient during the first week as everyone learns the new routine.

Our team has spent time planning and practicing this process to make dismissal safer, smoother, and more efficient for families.
