During this last week of school West Gate will be celebrating our students and staff. We would like to start by wishing Ms. Manning and happy and well earned retirement.
Ms. Carla Manning has dedicated 37 years to St. Lucie County from Pre-k to 8th grade. She graduated from the University of the West Indies in 1980. Ms. Manning's teaching career began in August 1988. Her journey went from St. Lucie Elementary, Garden City, F.K. Sweet, Mariposa Elem., and then to West Gate K-8 when the school opened in 2006.
Carla Manning has taught Kindergarten, 3rd grade, as well as 6th, 7th and 8th grade. She has been a resource/elective teacher for several grades (1st, 4th, and 6-8), a classroom teacher for elementary, and finished as our Spanish teacher of many years. We thank her for years of friendship, commitment, perseverance, expertise, and poise.
"I love receiving handmade gifts from students, and like every teacher, it is a joy knowing that you made an impact on the lives of those you have taught." -Ms. Manning
Carla is kind and hardworking and will be greatly missed. Whenever we have tacos or cake, we will be sure to think of you and send an invite. Enjoy a well-deserved vacation. Students and staff alike wish you the best in retirement!
