It really does happen. This weekend, Port Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a report of a cat stuck in a tree. Luckily, our feline friend was cooperative, making for a quick rescue and allowing crews to reunite it with its owner.

Both tonight and Wednesday evening, the department will be conducting training exercises in partnership with the Wisconsin Air National Guard. This training provides their crews with an opportunity to practice patient management while our personnel continue to develop bluff rescue skills and gain valuable experience working with rotary-wing aircraft. There is no emergency or public safety hazard associated with this activity. Residents may notice low-flying helicopters during the training sessions. Tonight's training will take place in the area of Coal Dock Park, while Wednesday's exercise will be conducted near Upper Lake Park. Community members are welcome to observe from a safe distance; however, both parks will be closed during the training exercises, and access to the training area will be restricted.

Earlier this evening (6/13) the Cedarburg Fire Department requested MABAS BOX 1-13 (Life Safety Box) to the FIRST ALARM level (ambulances only) for an incident at N71 W5184 Columbia Road in the City of Cedarburg.

Thank you to St. John XXIII for inviting us to participate in their "Field Day" on the last day of school. We were fortunate to have great weather, and it was a fun opportunity to spend time with the students, teach them about the fire service, and guide them through a miniature firefighter challenge.

A big thank you to Hollander Chocolate Co. for allowing the Department to use their parking lot for hose testing yesterday. Each year, the Department tests more than 14,000 feet of fire hose to make sure it can handle the high pressures encountered during firefighting operations. Having access to a large open space makes this annual testing much more efficient, keeps crews out of the roadway, and avoids disruptions to municipal streets.

This evening, the department will be conducting a simulated rescue in Upper Lake Park. There is no hazard or emergency. This activity is part of a planned training exercise and will have no impact on public safety.
