Food insecurity is defined as the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods, including involuntarily cutting back on meals and food portions or not knowing the source of the next meal.

Food insecurity on Long Island increased nearly 50 percent since the start of the pandemic. That's a crisis.

We are here at the Port Washington Public Library to provide the community a charge and wifi connectivity today from 9 am to 5 pm! If you have no power or internet come down and join us! Plug in your devices, use the PWPL hotspot and chat with your neighbors!

We currently have people from all over Port....Soundview....Salem etc. Are you still out of power? Which street do you live on and what is your estimated restoration time?

The library is closed today but you can still return your borrowed items in the outside drive up bins!

We’ve got you covered at the Port Washington Public Library. Power, internet and friendly faces (behind masks!). We’re here outside until 6:00. The building is open from 2:00-6:00.

Please be aware that the Port Washington Public Library will be open this Sunday for special hours, from 12 noon – 5pm, due to the significant heat wave that will hit over the weekend. Water will be given out in the Lobby beginning today and throughout the weekend!

Please stay cool and check on your elderly neighbors!
