September 1st is National Forgiveness Day.

National Forgiveness Day is observed to embrace healing, understanding and unity by encouraging forgiveness and fostering empathy.

When we forgive others, it can help our overall well-being by leading change in brain activity, lowering blood pressure, reducing our heart rate, and enhance the function of our immune system.

Forgiveness can also increase our mental resilience by releasing negative emotions that disrupt our mental health.

🎉 Happy one-year anniversary Ozaukee County Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST)!!

Ozaukee County FAST is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who serve the local senior community. Their goal is to identify, investigate, respond to and prevent cases of financial exploitation of elderly adults.

The first known model of FAST originated in California in the early 2000s in response to the growing number and complexity of cases involving elderly financial abuse.

In 2022, the Wisconsin Elder Justice Coalition developed the current model used today.

We are grateful for the service this team provides our community.

One year ago, a group of dedicated partners came together with a shared mission: protecting our community's most vulnerable adults from financial exploitation. Since then, this team has met every other month to build strong partnerships, grow their collective expertise, and stay ahead of emerging scam and exploitation trends impacting Ozaukee County.

As their team says best: "Bringing partners together to improve our community's response and resources for vulnerable adults."

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, knowledge, and passion to this important work. Here's to another year of collaboration and protecting our neighbors! 💜

Attention Ozaukee County Residents, an E Cycle event is set for June 13 at 1777 W Grand Avenue Port Washington beginning at 9 am - 12 pm. This is a chance to get rid of older unwanted electronics and collect non perishable items for the Port Washington Food Pantry. See below for more information.
