This page is intended to serve as a mechanism for communication between our community and the Port Wentworth Police Department providing relevant and timely community news, information, and events; distribution of crime prevention and public safety tips; urgent n
otifications of critical incidents which may affect residents, business owners, and visitors of the City of Port Wentworth, and for those people having an interest in the Port Wentworth Police Department. This is designed as a Limited Public Forum to further the mission of the Department. As a Limited Public Forum, the Department encourage members of the community to “Like” and “Follow” our page and respectfully interact and share ideas within the guidelines of our Terms of Use. A submitted comment or posting on this page by any visitor, follower, subscriber, or fan, shall constitute an acknowledgment and agreement of these terms of use. However, all content submitted to this page are monitored and reviewed by the Department for compliance with our Terms of Use. The Port Wentworth Police Department reserves the right to restrict, remove, or delete any comments or post, and/or block anyone whose posts are found to be in violation of our guidelines. Consistent with the purpose of this Limited Public Forum, prohibited content includes, but is not limited to, comments or post which contain:

• Links to websites which may be offensive or inappropriate.
• Conduct in violation of any federal, state, or local law/ordinance.
• Content which violates the right to privacy.
• SPAM.
• Repetitive content.
• Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
• Personal identifying information or a victim’s name, which is not subject to being released under open records law.
• Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright, or any part.
• Harassment or content which constitutes and/or facilitates stalking.
• Words that incite, encourage, or solicit violent or illegal acts.
• Content which may reasonably interfere with, inhibit, or compromise law enforcement investigations, police tactics, police responses to incidents, and/or the safety of police staff and officers.
• Language or comments that is off the topic or off-topic. For purposes of this policy, the definition of content as used refers to any written copy, photos, graphics, videos, live-video streams, comments, or any other form of communicative content exchanged between parties. The Department does not allow positing of photos or videos by anyone other than members of the Department. EMERGENCY OR NON-EMERGENCY REQUESTS FOR POLICE ASSISTANCE
The posting or messaging of requests for police assistance, regardless of if it is of an emergency or non-emergency nature, is highly discouraged and will not guarantee a response by the Port Wentworth Police Department or any emergency service provider. In case of an emergency, or if police assistance is needed, such as a crime in progress, please dial 9-1-1. If you wish to report information relevant to a crime, please call 912-964-4360. In the event you post information related to a crime, you may be placing yourself in a position of becoming a witness and subject to being subpoenaed into court to testify as such. DENIAL OF ACCESS
The Port Wentworth Police Department reserves the right to deny access to any Port Wentworth Police Department’s social media platforms for any individual, who violates the Port Wentworth Police Department’s Social Media Terms of Use, at any time and without prior notice. If you wish to contest the removal or hiding of your content, or your denial of access (“banned”) for our social media platforms, you may do so by contacting us at 912-964-4360 and requesting to speak to the Public Information Officer or member of our social media team. All comments posted to any Port Wentworth Police Department’s site are bound by Facebook's Community Standards, located at https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards, and the Port Wentworth Police Department reserves the right to report any violation of Facebook's Community Standards to Facebook with the intent of Facebook taking appropriate and reasonable responsive action.
