Alliant Energy crews will be conducting repairs this afternoon, 6/15/2026 that will reduce traffic on a small portion of New Pinery Road down to one lane. This effects southbound traffic only, just north of the intersection of West Albert St. The work is expected to take 2-3 hours. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.

6/11/2026 UPDATE: Work on the E. Pleasant Street Reconstruction project has been pushed to begin the week of June 29th, in lieu of the week the 15th. We apologize for the inconvenience.

In the wake of this week’s storms, all crews are working to clear streets, sidewalks and alleys. A special brush-only collection (no bagged items) will occur next week Monday (6/15/2026). Please have any brush out by 6:00 AM Monday morning. Airport Rd brush site remains open for residents to drop off brush only.

If you have trees blocking your driveway or house, contact the City at 608-742-2176 for assistance. If you have trees or limbs hanging on overhead electric wires, do not attempt to remove them: Contact Alliant at 800-255-4268.

The City of Portage will be resurfacing Boeck Road from STH-16 to the southern railroad tracks starting the week of June 15th. During the project, Boeck Road will remain closed to through traffic, meaning the only traffic permissible will be for driveway or roadway access that falls within the project limits. Road closure signage will be placed in advance of the closures. Work is expected to last between 1-3 weeks dependent on weather and existing conditions. The City of Portage will be reconstructing E. Pleasant Street from Dewitt Street to Hamilton Street beginning the week of June 15th, 2026. Work will include the replacement of water and sewer utilities along this roadway as well as asphalt pavement. Work will continue through late summer/early fall. During construction E. Pleasant Street from Dewitt to Hamilton will be closed to through traffic.

The City will be hosting a Public Informational Meeting on June 10th from 5:00PM to 6:00PM for members of the public affected by the construction to ask questions related to the project. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and indulgence during the construction project.
