From the National Weather Service:
Expect snowfall tonight starting around 5:00pm. Initial accumulation of a half inch is projected that could impact travel times and create slippery road conditions during this eveningโ€™s commute. Overnight expect continued snowfall with an additional 2 to 4 inches of accumulation and wind gust at 35mph.

Please be mindful of City Ordinance 78-296 which states, โ€œIt shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on the paved or travelled portion of any street within the city for a period of time longer than five minutes for loading and unloading persons or passengers or 30 minutes for loading or unloading property at any time after snow begins to fall and the snow on the streets exceeds two inches in depth.โ€ Click on the link below for further details.

Did you miss last night's Light Up the Gourds! Illuminated Pumpkin Trail, sponsored by the Portage Event Partnership?
Don't worry. You can see it again tonight. The Light Up the Gourds! trail will be open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Oct. 24, along the Central Avenue entrance drive to the Bonner Senior Center.
Admission will be free.
Come out to this new drive-thru event and gaze at the creativity of your neighbors. They've worked hard to carve pumpkins and design scenes placed along the wooded trail to thrill and amaze you.
It is just going to be down-right fun!

All of the officers of the Portage Police Department are very aware that we have received a great deal of community support these past two months, particularly in the way of food donations. We also understand that we are fortunate that our jobs are deemed essential and we continue to work and earn a living when many are not able to. Because of this our administrative team launched an effort to fundraise in-house to try and help those in our community who could use a hand right now.
Normally during the week of May 15th we hold a memorial service to remember those officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. As part of this memorial service the officers are required wear their dress uniform and undergo a detailed inspection of their issued equipment. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic our annual memorial service had to be cancelled. The officers however are still required to have their equipment inspected by their supervisor. This year there was an option to undergo a slightly less detailed inspection if each officer made a monetary donation to the Portage Food Pantry of at least $25.00.
Chief of Police Michael Candiano and Patrol Captain Mark Monks were very pleased to meet with food pantry Director Bobbie Dekemper this afternoon and present her with a donation of $1,285. We hope this donation helps to bring some relief to those struggling to feed their families or themselves during this crisis. #StrongerTogether
