NIRPC is a regional council of local governments serving the citizens of Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties in Northwest Indiana. Census Bureau's Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). NIRPC provides a forum that enables the citizens of Northwest Indiana to address regional issues relating to transportation, the environment and community, and economic development. NIRPC, as a recipient of fe
deral funds, is subject to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, creed and national origin. The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability.

This award is presented yearly to those who have demonstrated outstanding lifelong service to Northwest Indiana. Giant storm heading in. Porter and LaPorte Counties are under a blizzard warning, with Lake under a winter storm warning. Powerful winds and dangerous temperature drops will accompany this storm which starts today and will last through Friday night. Please be safe out there!
Last August, the Town of Munster was awarded a $17.1 million federal grant to redesign a 1.3-mile segment of Ridge Road. This streetscape project will provide significant quality-of-life benefits, including a multi-use trail, landscaping, signage, seating areas and other decorative features. The project aims to create an authentic downtown atmosphere by creating a safe and inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors. INDOT has released updated 2022 vehicular crash counts through October. There were 810 fatalities, with 36,169 injuries (2,491 serious). Unfortunately, this is an increase over counts from 2021 (9.4% for deaths and 1.8% for injuries). Below are the vehicles in fatal crashes.
