NATIONAL NIGHT OUT - AUGUST 4, 2026 5:00-7:30PM

We are excited to host a Superhero Themed National Night Out at Collipp Worden Park on August 4, 2026, from 5:00-7:30pm. Please come out and join us for a fun and free family event. As a part of this event, we are asking that you bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Portage Food Pantry, as they are in need of our support to help combat hunger within our community.

We congratulate three Portage Fire/EMS staff members on their milestone service anniversaries. Emily Bulgrin, EMS/Firefighter, has completed 3 years of service; Noah Tredinnick, Firefighter, has also completed 3 years; and Hudson Tredinnick has achieved 1 year of dedicated service. The community is grateful for their selfless dedication and commitment to serving others around the clock.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives so we can enjoy our freedom. Their selfless sacrifices and courage will never be forgotten. Thank you to our fallen heroes, and to the families who carry their legacy.

The Portage Fire Department wishes to express its sincere gratitude to retired Captain Mark Bublitz and Lieutenant Brian Bonovetz for their years of dedication in placing flags on the graves of our past firefighters.

We also commend Captain Bublitz for taking the time to instruct current Lieutenant Jonathan Loomans and Captain Matthew Asch on this meaningful process. Your collective efforts beautifully preserve our department's history and honor our members.

Tackling some spring cleaning or painting this weekend?

Oil-soaked rags can start a fire if not handled safely. As oil-based paints and stains dry, they give off heat. If rags are piled up or put in a closed container, that heat can build up and start a fire.

Stay safe:
• Lay rags flat to dry outside, away from anything that can burn
• Or place them in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid
