***UPDATE....The parent of this child has been located. PPD detectives and CPS will investigate further into the circumstances surrounding this event to determine if any criminal acts occurred or if other social services are required to prevent future elopements.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

On Saturday November 15th at approximately 2:00pm officers located an unattended child at Country Side Park. The child (pictured) is a white male, approximately 4 years old wearing a red T-shirt. The child appears to be in good health but unfortunately he is non-verbal and cannot provide us with any information as to who he is or where he lives. Officers canvased the area in every direction for several blocks around the park but so far no one has been able to identify the child.

The Town of Porter Police Department is currently accepting applications for an Emergency Hiring Process for the position of Police Officer.

‼️To qualify for the emergency hiring process, candidates must be a Tier 1 Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Graduate OR hold an equivalency of ILEA Tier 1 training from out of state and be eligible for a waiver.‼️

All applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and less than forty (40) unless already a 1977 Pension Fund Member.

Master Patrol Officer Salary 2025: $68,286.40 (Does not include specialty pay).

Indiana 1977 Pension Fund:
Certified Salary $86,990.00 (Includes longevity).

Benefits include but are not limited to:

Specialty Training/Assignments:

Other specialties include: Accident Reconstruction, Drug Recognition Expert, Drone Operator, Emergency Medical Responder Program, Breath Test Operator, Field Training Officer, Evidence Tech/Custodian, Law Enforcement Phlebotomy Program and more.

All Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and less than forty (40) unless already 1977 Pension Fund Member.
- Have no felony, drug, or OWI convictions, and pass a background check.
- Hold a valid driver's license and pass a driver's record check.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

The Burns Harbor Police Department is currently accepting applications to fill a vacant full-time position. Certified applicants may be eligible as a lateral hire and may be exempt from the traditional testing process.

The minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity are: applicant must be 21-40 years of age, high school diploma/GED, be a United States Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, and have no prior felony convictions.
