We can't wait to welcome everyone to town for the Porter Auction this Saturday. This is a friendly reminder that it is ILLEGAL to park in front of any overhead apparatus bay doors at the Porter Fire Hall. This includes our ambulance bay in the rear of the Fire Hall. All driveways from the fire hall onto Lone Tree Street (Highway 68) and Brook Avenue must remain clear at all times. Violators will be towed and fined without warning.
For those not familiar with the location of the Porter Fire Hall, it is the white building with a blue roof on the corner of Lone Tree Street and Brook Avenue, which also serves as the clerking offices for the auction.
Vehicles being parked in these areas have caused issues in the past by blocking our ambulance and fire trucks during emergency calls.
Please keep this area clear so we can keep our community safe!!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS
This may affect your 2027 property taxes.
The Board of Appeal and Equalization for the City of Porter will meet on April 21, 2026 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. at the Porter City Hall, 301 Lone Tree Street, Porter. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor.
If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor's office to discuss your concerns. If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization. The board will review your assessments and may make corrections as needed. Generally, you must appeal to the local board before appealing to the county board of appeal and equalization.

The February 2, 2026, Regular Porter Council Meeting will begin at 6:00 pm.
Following its regular meeting, the Porter City Council will hold a Fire Contract Meeting with local township boards beginning at 7:00 pm.

Due to a lack of quorum for the regularly scheduled meeting, the November Porter City Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30 PM in the Meeting Room at the Fire Hall.

Notice from Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water-
There will be planned maintenance to repair water lines serving Porter and the surrounding area that will cause water service interruptions and outages. Residents should plan on not having water service between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water apologizes for any inconvenience.

We've added a Little Free Library at James Schoneman Memorial Park. Fully stocked with a selection of books for kids and kids at heart. Feel free to "check-out" a book or two today, we have plenty to re-stock the selection with.

The City of Porter is updating its billing system and the bills that were just sent had an incorrect due date of December. The actual due date should be October 3, 2025, before the next billing cycle. Any questions please reach out to Judy Verschelde 507-829-3536.
