Labor Day Office Closure Notice

The City of Porterdale offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

🚧 GDOT Roadwork – Hwy 81 🚧

The Georgia Department of Transportation is currently performing maintenance on Hwy 81 near City Hall. The road remains open, but traffic will be periodically diverted or stopped for short intervals to ensure safety during the work.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as GDOT is working to improve your roadway. Please drive with caution in the work zone.

Rivers Alive Cleanup..

Join us on Saturday, September 19 for our 2026 Rivers Alive event! Gather friends and family and help us clean up lakes, rivers, and streams around Newton County. Keep Newton Beautiful will provide free cleanup supplies, breakfast, and t-shirts (while supplies last). We will meet cleanup participants at Longhorn Steakhouse of Covington for breakfast and supply distribution at 9 a.m. After breakfast, teams will head out to cleanup sites to pick up litter in and around waterways. As advertised on our website, there will be a special hearing tonight, July 28th, at 6:30 p.m. concerning the 2026 millage rate. Additional hearings will be held on August 3rd at 9:00 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m. More information can be found on our website at www.cityofporterdale.com.

As highlighted by ⁠CBS News Atlanta, her organization helps local foster children, caregivers, and families facing tight finances access high-quality back-to-school clothing completely free of charge. Thank you for leading by example and turning personal memory into massive community impact, Leigh!

🚧 No parking on streets, curbs, or sidewalks starting Thursday, July 09, until paving is finished. Vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
