State Route 190 One-Way Traffic Control Operations Starting Tuesday in Tulare County

The Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in cooperation with Southern California Edison, announces one-way traffic control on State Route 190 just west of the City of Porterville for utility relocation operations in advance of the Rockford Road Roundabout Project.

The following operation will begin Tuesday, May 26th:

- The intersection of State Route 190 and Rockford Road will operate under one-way traffic control.

- Closures will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday each week.

- Relocation operations are expected to be completed in late August 2026.

Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.

Construction Crews will be conducting one way traffic control during this time with the use of flagging personnel through the work zone. Commuters are reminded to obey flagging personnel and pay close attention to road construction vehicles and personnel.

Caltrans would like to thank residents and commuters for their patience during this project and remember to please “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

The CHP Porterville Area wants to take a moment to celebrate an incredible act of kindness from Officer T. Sanders. Officer Sanders was recently contacted by the National Marrow Donor Program as a strong genetic match for a woman battling leukemia. After thoughtful consideration and thorough testing, he was confirmed as her closest match and recently went through the donation process. What stands out most in this act of kindness, is Officer Sanders’ quiet willingness to step up and give someone a second chance at life — with no expectation of recognition. Bone marrow donation is such a powerful way to make a real difference, and Officer Sanders did it with the same integrity and generosity he brings to work every day. Thank you for your selflessness and big heart. You’ve reminded us all what true compassion looks like. We are grateful to work alongside someone like you. Wishing you and the recipient a full and speedy recovery
