Updated election results are showing that the Canby Schools levy did not pass. While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we are encouraged by the level of community involvement and support we witnessed during this campaign. The district must now move forward with fewer staff and programs due to insufficient funding, but we know they will continue to provide the best education for our children with the resources they have. And we know that this amazing community will be right there to share that burden and support in any way possible.

Your support can take shape in many ways: sign up for the district newsletter at canby.k12.or.us, follow your school's PTA on social media, attend a CSD school board meeting, donate to the Canby Educational Foundation, or volunteer at a Canby school. Together, we can still make education a priority in our community!

As mayor, I strongly support Measure 3-636 and encourage our community to vote yes on May 19. Canby has always been a community that values families, education, and investing in our future. This levy is an opportunity for us to support our local schools during a time of significant financial challenges and help prevent reductions that would directly impact students, teachers, and programs.

Measure 3-636 would help preserve teaching positions, maintain manageable class sizes, and protect educational opportunities that are important to students and families across our district. Just as importantly, this is a local investment โ€” Canby dollars staying in Canby to support Canby kids.

I encourage residents to learn more about Measure 3-636 and join me in voting yes for Canby schools.
