Not a politician, I am a concerned citizen who is tired of politicians making decisions affecting our neighborhoods with no regard for what we need or want. I am not a politician, I am a concerned citizen who is tired of politicians making decisions that affect my city, my neighborhood and my friends and family with no regard for what we need or want. I vote my

conscience not my party. I believe all lives matter, no parent should ever have to bury a child. Equal rights not special rights. Equal punishment for crime, not different depending upon age, race, religion, etc. What is the role of a commissioner? Commissioners are responsible for overseeing the county's management and administration, representing county interests at the state and federal level, participating in long-range planning, and managing the county budget and finances
commissioners (members of City Council) are responsible for legislative policy and oversee the various bureaus that oversee the day-to-day operation of the city. ... Each city council member is elected at-large. The Portland City Council, (officially the Portland City Commission), is the legislative body of the City of Portland in Oregon and forms part of the Government of the city. Portland runs on a commission form of government, the largest city in the United States to do so. The council is composed of five members, referred to as Commissioners, which includes the Mayor, each elected at-large for a term of four years. One of the Commissioners elected to be the ceremonial President of the Council. There are no term-limits for Commissioners and Commissioners are all officially nonpartisan.[1]

Commissioners are each assigned to run and oversee various city Bureaus (eg. Police, Fire, Environmental Services, Water). These assignments are occasionally switched around with the exception of the Police Bureau of which the Mayor is always Commissioner based on tradition. The City Council convenes on Wednesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons in the council chamber on the second floor of Portland City Hall, and meetings are open to the public.[2]

In 2022, Portland voters approved a ballot measure that amends the City Charter and changes Portland's form of government. This will go into effect on January 1, 2025. Under the new form of government, approved by voters in 2022, Portland will operate under a unique system. The mayor will no longer be a part of the city council, and instead of five at-large positions, the council will have twelve districted seats. Three councilmembers will each represent one of four districts, each with approximately 160,000 residents.[3] Special elections will also no longer be used to fill vacancies in the council.[4] The elections will continue to be officially nonpartisan.[5] The first election for this new form of government will take place on November 5, 2024.

Oregon protects a previously deported illegal migrant now arrested for stabbing of elderly man Please let your local politicians know this is not ok!

A Previously deported illegal immigrant arrested for stabbing 86-year-old man in Oregon grocery store parking lot

Ngo investigates: On Dec. 27, 2024, a Portland man was arrested for allegedly stabbing an 86-year-old man at a Fred Meyer grocery store in Clackamas County, Ore. in an attempt to carjack his vehicle while he was unloading food.

The arrested suspect is 31-year-old Jesus Ascencio-Molina. According to a law enforcement source not authorized to speak on record, Ascencio-Molina is an illegal Mexican national who was previously deported. He has an extensive criminal history in Oregon. Oregon is a sanctuary state and the establishment local media has refused to report on Ascencio-Molina's illegal status background.

Like all Oregon law enforcement departments, Clackamas County has a policy of non-cooperation and will not notify ICE if the illegal migrant suspect is released from custody.

"State law prohibits us from inquiring specifically about place of birth or
immigration status," a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman told me when I inquired about the attempted murder suspect.

Ascencio-Molina is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He remains in custody.

In 2018, Ascencio-Molina was arrested for allegedly trying to kill a man with a nail gun. The attempted murder case was dismissed by a judge. In 2016, a theft case against him was also dismissed.

so does running a candidates ad along side an article about elections violate the Equal-time rule???? Also, does this apply to local elections??

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule
The equal-time rule specifies that American radio and television broadcast stations must provide equivalent access to competing political candidates.

The equal-time rule (47 U.S. Code § 315 - Candidates for public office[1]) specifies that American radio and television broadcast stations must provide equivalent access to competing political candidates. This means, for example, that if a station broadcasts a message by a candidate, it must offer ...

PROCRASTINATORS UNITE!! If you haven't already voted please mail your ballots out by 8 PM tonight. Please Ignore who the media is telling you to vote for, they are only naming the people who raised/spent the most $$$ and ignored the rest of us. Please vote for the people that want what you want. To my Lents neighbors please vote for Peggy Sue Owens and Steph Routh!

This election is supposed to be about change and better representation for our communities not who spent the most money. Please consider the rest of us when casting your votes.

I am not receiving contributions from any PAC or Special Interest group. I did not participate in the small donor election fund that spend $2.8 million dollars on this City election. I paid for my own campaign.

Unfortunately anyone who did not participate in the small donor fund, is being ignored. Google the candidates in your district. The candidates getting endorsements or media attention are only the ones who raised the most money.

Less than a week before the election.

I'm Peggy Sue Owens, a small business owner and proud resident of Portland, running for Portland City Council in District 1. I'm excited to share my vision with you and ask for your support.

I was born in Bandon, Oregon, and graduated from Bandon High School one year early. I attended SWOCC and PSU. As a small business owner, I've developed strong skills in customer service, estimating, accounting, and contracts. In my free time, I enjoy classic cars, sports, and everything horror – my favorite holiday is Halloween!

**My Platform**
**Issue #1: Government Transparency**

Community involvement in decision-making is crucial. We're tired of people who don't live in our neighborhoods making all the decisions for our communities. If you want real change, you need to be part of the process.
**Issue #2: Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements**

Collaborating with residents for neighborhood improvement plans is essential. I want to be a voice for my community and ensure that what's best for our neighbors is supported by our council members.
**Issue #3: Housing**

Increasing affordable housing options is vital. Our incomes are not keeping up with inflation or our current housing markets. People are losing their homes or will never have the opportunity to own one. We need mixed-income neighborhoods, a clear path to home ownership, and all publicly funded housing should be rent-controlled.

City Club and Multnomah County Elections asked us to share this video since there is some confusion regarding ranked choice voting.

The City of Portland Elections Office is seeing an increase in false information about how to mark the ranked-choice ballot, and they need everyone’s help to share factual information (because believe it or not, three-quarters of Multnomah County registered voters have not returned their ballots yet).
