Red 2 spotted something a little different on the terminal apron yesterday afternoon.

JetBlue’s Airbus A320 (tail number N632JB) better known as "Bear Force One," arrived from New York–JFK sporting its unmistakable Boston Bruins special livery. The aircraft has worn the Bruins-themed paint scheme since 2019, when JetBlue unveiled it to celebrate its partnership with the team.

While N632JB may have visited Portland International Jetport before, this was the first time our crew had the chance to see it on the ramp. Special liveries are always a welcome sight and add a little extra color to an otherwise routine day of aircraft operations.

Yesterday was a busy day for military aircraft stopping at the Portland International Jetport-Maine.

The day started with a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules arriving and remaining overnight. Later, a flight of 3 U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets from VFC-12 “Fighting Omars” Squadron stopped for fuel. They’re an adversary squadron that provides realistic air combat training for fleet aviators. Their Super Hornets feature unique camouflage paint schemes and Red Star markings on the vertical stabilizers, designed to replicate potential adversary aircraft.

Early afternoon brought a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon that also stopped for fuel before departing later in the afternoon. The P-8’s primary role is long-range surveillance and anti-submarine warfare.

It’s always great to see the variety of military aviation that passes through the Jetport 🇺🇸✈️

This afternoon, our firefighters conducted a hands-on fire extinguisher training class for two employees from the MAC Air Group which is one of two Fixed Base Operators (FBO) at the Portland International Jetport-Maine.

FAA regulations require recurrent fire safety training for FBO employees who fuel aircraft or handle aviation fuel. As part of the training, participants reviewed fire prevention, extinguisher selection, and proper firefighting techniques before putting those skills into practice with live-fire extinguisher training.

Working together with our Jetport partners helps ensure a safe operating environment for everyone on the airfield.

Earlier this year Portland International Jetport-Maine, welcomed Southwest Airlines' patriotic "Liberty One" aircraft—a fitting reminder of the pride, freedom, and service that this holiday represents.

This morning, PWM had a unique visitor - a United States Air Force C-32A, the military variant of the Boeing 757. There are four of these aircraft in the Air Force’s active fleet and are typically used to transport VIP Government officials.

This aircraft with the call sign Venus 21, flew up from Andrews Air Force Base to perform a series of touch-and-go landings.

Firefighters at the Portland Fire Department’s Air Rescue Station, conducted fire extinguisher training last week for employees of Northeast Air, an FBO located at PWM.

This hands-on training covered proper extinguisher use, fire classifications, and safe response techniques—giving participants the confidence to act quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.

Trainings like this help strengthen partnerships across the airfield and enhance overall safety for everyone working at the Portland International Jetport-Maine.
