It's Pride Month, when we gather to celebrate and honor our Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Two-Spirit communities (LGBTQIA2S+).

Pride emerged from the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. The intersectional fight to amplify q***r voices and LGBTQIA2S+ rights is inspired and stronger than ever, thanks to activists like Black, gender-nonconforming, feminine-presenting, politically engaged activist, Marsha P. Johnson, who sparked early movements.

Please join the Oregon Advocacy Commissions as we celebrate Pride!

Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit individuals, and people experience disproportionate levels of violence and trauma. The National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People is an urgent call to support Tribal governments' and communities’ efforts to increase awareness and address the issues of missing or murdered Indigenous people. We hold space for our Indigenous families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.

As we recognize Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we reflect on the importance of representation and advocacy here in Oregon. Our AANHPI communities are not monolithic—and our policies and institutions must reflect that complexity—honoring culture, addressing disparities, and investing in community-driven solutions.

Celebration is important. And so is action. This month, and beyond, we must continue the work of building trust, advancing equity, and ensuring every community in Oregon is seen, heard, and supported.
