🚨ATTENTION MARINERS🚨

The Casco Bay Bridge will be closed to vessels that require the bridge to be opened and closed on APRIL 8TH, 9AM-3PM so that the Maine Department of Transportation can perform routine maintenance. Smaller vessels will still be able to navigate under the bridge during this closure.

FMI: Mariners can contact the bridge operator at 207-592-2846 or VHF CH 13.

Primary work area this week:
• South Port; East End Beach Barge Landing

Estimated timeline:
• South Port: 12-hour operations, expected to run through 3/31.
• East End Barge Landing: 24-hour operations: through 4/7

Disposal:
• Dredge area this week will be the Portland Disposal Site with a tentative schedule of one disposal event approximately every 12 hours; exact timing may vary. During this phase, dredge traffic will extend offshore to the disposal site and is very weather dependent.

🚧Portland Harbor - Week 15 Dredge Update🚧

Nearing completion of the Portland-side dredging for this season, the remaining work will be primarily focused around East End Beach, including the barge landing and boat launch area as well as wrapping up areas in South Portland for this season.

Dredge Location & Schedule:

Primary work area this week: South Port, South Portland City Pier, Saltwater Grille, East End Beach Barge Landing, IMT

Estimated timeline:
South Port: 12-hour operations, expected to run through 3/31.

South Portland City Pier: 24-hour operations with larger barge, scheduled through 3/24.

Saltwater Grille: 24-hour operations scheduled to be done 3/25 subject to be moved for weather windows.

IMT: 24-hour operations with the larger barge expected to be done by 3/25.

East End Barge Landing: 24-hour operations: 3/24–3/31 Subject to be moved up for good weather windows.

Primary work area this week: South Port, IMT, South Portland City Pier, Saltwater Grille

• Estimated timeline: South Port: 12-hour operations, expected to run through 3/31.
• IMT: 24-hour operations with the larger barge expected to work up until the next ship is in.
• South Portland City Pier: 24-hour operations with larger barge, scheduled for 3/9–3/24.
• Saltwater Grille: 24-hour operations: 3/9–3/24 subject to be moved for weather windows.

Disposal: All dredge areas this week will be disposing into the CAD, with a tentative schedule of one disposal event approximately every 12 hours; exact timing may vary. Work at the final two dredge sites may begin early, as those areas require offshore disposal at the Portland Disposal Site. During that phase, dredge traffic will extend offshore to the disposal site.

Support vessels active in the area: Prock will have 2 scow barges with pushboats Sunfish and Mary Lou, as well as smaller support vessels and Determination Marine on site at times. The Harbor Master vessel may be out for monitoring this week as well.

Heads up: The Women's Wave dip is happening at Willard Beach on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The event organizers are expecting 3,000+ people for the event, which begins at noon (dip at 12:30 PM). While participants are being asked to park in the SMCC lot, please be aware that the Willard neighborhood will see increased traffic and street/public lot parking at the time of the event. Please note that this is not an event organized by the City.
