Oregon State Building & Construction Trades Council

Oregon State Building & Construction Trades Council The Oregon Building and Construction Trades Council is the voice for Oregon's union construction workforce.

Our member unions invest approximately $15 million annually for training apprentices and continuing education for our journeymen and women—without a dime of public money, we have developed and maintain what we believe is the best trained, most highly skilled construction workforce in the world, right here in Oregon. Our members are not only committed to excellent craftsmanship, but to being stella

r citizens within their communities. We have a long history of donating labor and working with local suppliers to donate materials to build everything from dugouts for little league baseball, homes for Habitat for Humanity and shelters for battered women. Our unions in conjunction with our signatory contractors founded the charity B.U.L.L. Session, which has raised over $4.3 million for the community’s most valuable assets—our children. Charity recipients include: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics Oregon, and Wheel to Walk Foundation among several others. We are actively involved in the Helmets to Hardhats program to help our military veterans make a swift transition from active duty military service to civilian careers in the construction industry. In addition, our locals open their halls at no cost for a wide range of community activities, from veterans’ job fairs to providing our facilities, equipment, and instructors to high school engineering and robotics classes.

Very proud of all the work done by our Executive Board, Business Mangers, Council Leaders, and guests to ensure that all convention attendees returned home healthy and safe. It was truly remarkable to see how serious everyone took the Covid pandemic, and held each other accountable. This just demonstrates how serious our industry and our leaders, take this virus, and how important safety is to all of us, both on and off the job.

Representing over 33,000 construction workers, delegates backed a candidate for governor and committed to fight racism in the industry.

Happy Labor Day! From everyone at The Oregon State Building & Construction Trades Council.
