This week, I joined Reach CDC for a tour of Foster73, their new housing project slated to open this fall in the Foster-Powell neighborhood. I loved seeing the murals, learning about the accessible homes and the wrap around services and programming integrated into the building, and was especially happy to discover that the Portland Clean Energy Fund provided support for multiple solar panels and energy efficiency investments that will keep energy bills affordable for future residents.

I can't wait for this facility to open; Oregon needs to be building more homes available to Oregonians at all ages, wages and stages of life. As Chair of the Senate Housing Committee, I'm preparing an ambitious agenda of legislation that will help Oregon build enough homes for every family that wants to call our state home.

Oregon needs to build more homes available to Oregonians at all ages, wages and stages of life, in every community across the state.

Last week my office hosted a Housing Production Roundtable to convene policymakers, housing advocates, home builders, architects, and affordable housing providers to discuss potential policy solutions to help Oregon build more homes and address our statewide housing crisis. With a challenging budget year ahead, we can't count on state resources to spur housing production; Oregon will have to find ways to modify public policy to get more homes built in our communities, and I'm so grateful for all the ideas and generative conversation from this week's event.

This week in Senate Energy and Environment, we had a hearing about the POWER Act. I'm proud to have supported this policy to make sure data centers pay for their own infrastructure costs and can't pass these costs to customers.

The POWER Act passed by lawmakers last year requires large industrial energy users to pay their share of electricity usage.

Last week, I was proud to join Governor Tina Kotek for a bill signing ceremony celebrating legislation that will help Oregonians tackle our housing affordability crisis. While communities big and small across Oregon are facing different housing affordability challenges, one thing is clear - we need to be building more homes in every community across the state that are affordable and accessible to Oregonians at all ages, wages and stages of life.

Proud to join this group of community leaders, advocates, and legislators at Governor Tina Kotek's immigrant justice bill signing yesterday hosted by IRCO Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization. Together we organized and passed a slate of policies that make Oregon an even safer and welcoming home for all our neighbors. 🎉

In the face of authoritarianism, Oregon will not let violence against our communities and violations of our Constitution go unchecked. We will protect us and come through the other side of this together.

Gov. Tina Kotek signed eight bills into law defending immigrant rights as the Trump administration ramps up federal immigration enforcement.

Deep gratitude to the dedicated community of advocates and policymakers including Rep Jones Isadore and Rep Tran, who helped pass House Bill 4100, which ensure polluters, not taxpayers, are liable for any cleanup and remediation at their oil terminals after an earthquake or a natural disaster. The Critical Energy Infrastructure hub in Portland houses 90% of fuel used in our entire state, and this is an important step forward in a multi-step process to protect all our communities.
