Honoring the Legacy of Nate Nickerson

Portland Public Health is deeply saddened by the passing of our former Director, Nate Nickerson.

Nate was a force for good, a fierce advocate, and a visionary leader. Some of our most well-known and impactful initiatives, including the Needle Exchange and our Portland Public Health clinic, were built, expanded, and championed by Nate. Because of the firm foundation he created, these programs continue to make critical, life-saving impacts today.

"Nate was, and is, incredibly inspiring. I am in awe of his contributions to public health," shared Bridget Rauscher, current Public Health Director.

His leadership shaped our division, and his spirit lives on in the programs we run today. Thank you, Nate, for showing us what public health leadership truly means. Our hearts are with his loved ones.
