Impact NW is the proud recipient of a 2026 Society for Science grant for our AKA Science program. 🔬

AKA Science provides fun, hands-on, after-school science enrichment for low-income and underserved youth in grades 3-8 in Portland. Kids in this program learn about things like biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental science, forensics, earth science, and technology & math.

"'In AKA Science, it's okay if I don't know everything. We have fun learning new things together, and I feel like I belong there and am safe. I get to be creative, and I feel proud when I finish a project. Science is my favorite subject now because of this class, and I decided I want to study science in college."
