๐Ÿšง Spring Water Main Maintenance Is Underway ๐Ÿšง

The Portland Water District began its annual spring water main maintenance program in May. Crews started in Cape Elizabeth and Windham and will soon move into other parts of our water system.

๐Ÿ•’ Maintenance flushing activities generally take place Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

๐Ÿ’ง During this work, customers may notice short periods of water discoloration. This is temporary and a normal part of an essential program that helps maintain water quality and protect public health.

๐Ÿ“ž If you experience any changes in water quality following maintenance activities, or have security concerns regarding individuals claiming to be from the Portland Water District, please call us at (207) 761-8310. All Portland Water District personnel carry photo ID and wear uniforms.

๐Ÿ“ For more information, including a map showing current and upcoming flushing areas, visit: https://www.pwd.org/water-main-flushing/

๐Ÿ’ง Big win for safety at Portland Water District!

PWD was awarded the Maine Municipal Associationโ€™s Ed MacDonald Safety Enhancement Grant to support safer, healthier workplaces.๐Ÿ‘

With this funding, our team purchased a Hydrant Buddyโ€”a powerful, portable, cordless tool that helps crews safely and efficiently operate and flush fire hydrants and gate valves.

Why it matters:
โœ”๏ธ Reduces physical strain on our crews
โœ”๏ธ Helps prevent workplace injuries
โœ”๏ธ Makes an essential part of maintaining your water system easier and safer

The Hydrant Buddy was recently delivered, and our crews are already putting it to work in the fieldโ€”with great results!

Safe crews = strong, reliable water service ๐Ÿ’™
