It’s is clear to anyone with a brain, that America is no longer the country that the world looked to as a beacon of freedom and democracy. Can it ever return? It took a major world war to put an end to fascist dictatorships. There is no chance that the right wing facist governments that are now (with Trump) in control of the three largest militaries in the world (US, China, Russia), can ever be overthrown. You can add Israel, Noth Korea, Venezuela, and a growing number of nations to that list.
Can Denmark stop Trump from taking Greenland? Can the Ukraine stop Russia? Can anyone stop China from taking Taiwan?
There are only two way this will end. One is with uprisings by the people of theses nations. But with overwhelming military force (Trump has already stated that he is prepared to use the US military against its citizens) the prospects of citizens overturning any of these dictators is impossible to envision.
The other and sadly more likely end, will be by the earth itself. The inevitable path that the destruction of our climate will eventually make the planet unlivable. Or, an uncontrolled pathogen (virus) will kill off a majority of the human population.
As a white man in my mid-seventies, I believe I will survive. I will watch with great sadness and dismay that the country I grew up in is no longer going to be where I plan to spend the last years of my life.
Good luck to those that believe that women, the young and educated and committed Democrats can overcome the facist dictatorship that is coming with the Trump regime.
