Golden Leaf Education Foundation is formed by volunteers to enhance educational opportunities internationally to children in need.

Golden Leaf Education Foundation (GLEF) is a 501 c(3) non-profit in Portland, Oregon. Its mission, inspired by Kilong Ung’s memoir, Golden Leaf: A Khmer Rouge Genocide Survivor, is to enhance educational opportunities for children in need internationally in memory of genocide victims and in honor survivors – golden leaves. GLEF operates 100 percent on the volunteer efforts of students, business professionals, Royal Rosarians, Rotarians, community members, and community leaders.

Congratulations to Operation Jenda!

You have reached your fundraising goal of $30,000 to build the school library at the Doung Het School in the Kratie Province in Cambodia! This will be the first, Golden Leaf Education Foundation (GLEF) library building.

To the Khut family, GLEF thanks you for leading in kindness and generosity, putting service before self in helping to make a big dream come true. To all that donated to this campaign, thank you!

On October 23, 2021, Miss Alison “Jenda”, during her family’s Benefit Concert, received the first, GLEF Founder’s Prestigious Award in honor of all the efforts she made in helping to reach this amazing goal. From inspiring the supportive adults in her life, to her heartfelt, spirited songs, and her orange juice stand — all were vehicles in raising funds to help to meet this ambitious goal.

Jenda, you are GLEF’s youngest philanthropist at five years old. May your future be bright, be very kind to you, and may you always fueled by the love of learning. Again, Thank You! GLEF looks forward to the next steps in the process of building the actual library!

GLEF is excited to share about the artists that will be entertaining us this Thurs, November 4 at our virtual event!

Comedian Davine Ker

Davine is a trilingual stand-up comedian, multidisciplinary artist, and Moth StorySlam winner. Her art emerges from thought-provoking jokes, left-field concepts, and unique storytelling that bridges culture, comedy, music, and storytelling. She headlines throughout the Washington DC area and also performs as a feature comedian in comedy clubs and festivals from NYC to LA and Montreal, Canada.
