Come recharge your EV at the new location: 121 SW Salmon Street. Salmon is one-way eastbound. Chargers are on-street at PGE's World Trade Center, about one block west of the Salmon Street Springs fountain. There are 4 EFACEC level-3 (fast) chargers and 2 Clipper Creek level-2 chargers (cords supposed to be long enough to reach Tesla port--user feedback on this invited). Spaces are on the angle, nose-in. Regular parking charges apply; the electricity is complimentary, courtesy of PGE; maximum parking duration is two hours. Buy a parking sticker at the SmartMeter (green) pay station; place sticker on driver window.

Utility's new 'Electric Avenue' will help meet growing demand:
..The decision to move Electric Avenue rather than close it was made because 4,000 drivers in the Portland area use electricity as their motor fuel of choice. They expect to have reliable, working places to charge their vehicles during the day, just as drivers of conventional vehicles expect to have gas stations conveniently located to ensure they don't run out of fuel... Retaining [Electric Avenue] in the downtown area is the right thing to do to provide this valuable public service to residents and visitors...

PGE is reported to be modifying the EV charging spaces on SW Salmon Street, near PGE's Portland World Trade Center.

When finished, the stretch will have additional plug-in spaces, reserved for EV's in the process of recharging (paying only regular parking rates, electricity to be free), under a two-year demonstration period. Two general-use spaces will remain.

PGE hopes to learn more about "the logistical challenges of charging infrastructure in the right-of-way" and the potential to charge motorists for their fuel, explains PGE senior vice president James Lobdell to the city in a July 8 letter. Among the things PGE has in mind is "potential replication elsewhere in Portland."[http://media.oregonlive.com/opinion_impact/other/2015/07/14/lobdellletter.pdf].

Discussion on this may be included at EV Roadmap 8, July 29-30, 2015 [http://evroadmapconference.com/event_details/].

A few photos from the evening of July 2, 2015. All EV chargers and Electric Avenue banners are removed. Conduit through the pavement has been concreted over. Circuit board/fuse box/master breaker remains, temporarily; locked in 'off' position. Street spaces are designated now as regular parking; subject to change when Business School expansion begins later this summer.
