PGE is reported to be modifying the EV charging spaces on SW Salmon Street, near PGE's Portland World Trade Center.
When finished, the stretch will have additional plug-in spaces, reserved for EV's in the process of recharging (paying only regular parking rates, electricity to be free), under a two-year demonstration period. Two general-use spaces will remain.
PGE hopes to learn more about "the logistical challenges of charging infrastructure in the right-of-way" and the potential to charge motorists for their fuel, explains PGE senior vice president James Lobdell to the city in a July 8 letter. Among the things PGE has in mind is "potential replication elsewhere in Portland."[http://media.oregonlive.com/opinion_impact/other/2015/07/14/lobdellletter.pdf].
Discussion on this may be included at EV Roadmap 8, July 29-30, 2015 [http://evroadmapconference.com/event_details/].
