ROSE's newest development - the Woody Guthrie Apartments - is planned for SE 92nd and Reedway. Our architect, Brian Carleton, would like to get a group together to talk about how to design Woody's spirit into the building. Let me know if you want to put in your two cents. - Nick Sauvie

What kind of song do you think Woody would write today, in this economic and housing climate?

A poet of the people, the balladeer wrote some of the United States' most important songs, including "This Land Is Your Land." He captured the heart of hard economic times and war while struggling with poverty and personal demons. He would have been 100 this year.

A recent article about a the Wikman Building, a historic building on SE Foster and Holgate that has much potential to be turned into a thriving community center. Have ideas or input? The county has listed the building as surplus property and sought public input on its future. The deadline for public comments was Monday. By Dec. 22, county commissioners will review proposals from the public and later decide how the property will be used.
