After being contacted and having a long conversation with Cassie Yee, she emailed me this information:
I greatly look forward to introducing and presenting our project to the local neighborhood in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some information with you about who we are and some key points about our Beaverton project specifically.
In-N-Out Burger is a 100% family-owned hamburger restaurant company that was founded back in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder, and is now owned and run by Lynsi Snyder, Harry & Esther’s sole granddaughter. Each and every In-N-Out burger restaurant in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas, newly-added Colorado, and all of our Oregon locations are 100% owned and operated by our company – we do not franchise any of our restaurants. This ensures that each of our stores have the same great dedication to quality food – fresh, never frozen, 100% USDA ground chuck beef, free of additives, fillers and preservatives; real ice cream milkshakes; hand-leafed iceberg lettuce; french fries from fresh whole potatoes shipped from the farm, individually cut in our stores, and cooked in 100% sunflower oil; and all food made to order, without any heat lamps, microwaves, or freezers in any of our kitchens.
We are excited to be able to serve the community of Beaverton with this quality product and are happy to offer well-paying jobs with great benefits (for both full-time and part-time associates and their eligible dependents) and an emphasis on a team-oriented environment while providing ample opportunity for training, growth, and advancement.
Further, In-N-Out Burger is dedicated to assisting all communities in our marketplace to become stronger, safer, and better places to live, especially through our two foundations –
1. the In-N-Out Burger Foundation founded in 1984 which focuses on helping abused and neglected children.
and
2. the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation which was established in 2016 to help improve the lives of individuals and families affected by substance abuse and/or human trafficking.
As we hope to add Beaverton as part of our family of stores, we also look forward to offering that same dedication to community service as we do at all of our existing locations.
Regarding this specific project, we are proposing a 3,879 square foot restaurant to be located at 10565 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, just east of the intersection at 107th Avenue. As shown on our conceptual site plan (see pdf link above), our project will be served by a main driveway access point located right on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and a secondary access point that currently exists on Laurel Avenue. Additionally, we also have limited rights to use a second driveway on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, east of our property, which is currently operating as the Azteca Mexican restaurant, as another option for access as well.
We have oriented our building specifically to maintain convenient access and circulation off of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. Further, we have situated the entrance to our double drive-through lane about mid-way within the lot. This will help keep our operations away from the residences to the north while also having ample circulation opportunities for cars entering off of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. We are being thoughtful in our design so that we maximize the efficiency of the parking lot to allow for potential drive-through overflow areas and ample parking spaces to avoid causing undue burden on the surrounding streets.
I understand there is concern among members of the community regarding the capability of the project to handle peak-time demand. In-N-Out burger remains dedicated to increasing the efficiency of our operations to the furthest extent possible without sacrificing the quality of our product by adopting a number of specific drive-through operations procedures, including deploying our Associates to the drive lane to personally take orders via handheld devices, Associate-directed temporary traffic control measures to increase drive through queue capabilities, firing up an extra grill during peak times, and having cameras monitoring the drive-through lane for our managerial teams to stay on top of the operations, just to name a few. All of these measures help us maximize our drive through efficiency and, depending on a variety of factors, including the complexity and volume of each order, the complexities of each store and their unique set of circumstances, etc., we can average less than 40 seconds, and sometimes as little as 20-30 seconds, per car receiving their order through our pick-up window. I can and will be elaborating further on the traffic and access aspects of our project, as I imagine that is of pointed interest among the community members, during the Neighborhood Meeting on the (December) 28th.
I hope this sheds a little light on who we are and the basics of what we are proposing and again, I look forward to being able to provide a full presentation to your community on the (December) 28th (Zoom meeting).
Thank you.
