What. A. Weekend. 🐺🧡💜

We’re still taking in everything that happened at Oregon Working Families Party’s 2026 Nominating Convention Weekend.

The energy was palpable. Over three days, working people, organizers, union members, movement leaders, elected officials, candidates, and WFP members from across Oregon came together to learn from one another, build relationships, sharpen our strategy, celebrate our movement, and practice real democracy in action.

We left feeling moved, inspired, energized, and more committed than ever to what we are building together.

As WFP National Director Maurice Mitchell reminded us this weekend: democracy doesn’t start and end with voting. Democracy is what happens when real working people come together, harness our collective political power, and use it to make real change.

And THAT is what this weekend felt like.

People coming together across organizations, movements, communities, and generations. People debating, organizing, learning, voting, celebrating, and making decisions together about the future of our party and our state.

This weekend wasn’t just a convention. It was another step toward building the political home Oregon’s multiracial working class deserves.

And we can truly say we left this weekend even more ready to: BUILD. THE. PARTY. 🐺✊

Thank you to every single person who showed up, volunteered, spoke, facilitated, organized, celebrated, voted, and helped make this weekend what it was.

Finally, a VERY special thank you to ILWU Local 8 for hosting us this weekend 🫶 it felt so special to create community and practice democracy in action in such a historic space in our working class movement.

We’re just getting started. ✨

What if it all works out?

Our Linn-Benton Wolf Pack folks are asking us to imagine something we don’t always give ourselves permission to: what the future could look like if we actually win.

Not just stopping the next bad thing. Not just surviving the next election. But building a future where working people have real power and our communities have what they need to thrive.

That kind of future isn’t inevitable, but it is possible. And building it starts with people coming together, organizing, and choosing hope over resignation.
