The Tater Report: Episode 146: "Plinko for the Rec Kids!"

Rainy summer days can’t stop this crew! When the weather keeps us off the playgrounds, Tater and Company retreat to the workshop to build some indoor magic for our recreation programs.

Today, Tater and Hutch are putting the finishing touches on a custom-made Plinko board for summer camp! Our highly scientific "gravity and bounce test" has been successfully completed, and we can confirm the chips go clink-clink-clink perfectly.

The kids at camp are going to love it. Just remember, counselors get a turn too!

A great improvement is coming to Deering Oaks Park this summer!

Starting in mid-June, a construction project is kicking off to make the park safer and easier for everyone to walk through.

The city is replacing the sidewalk along Tennis Court Road, the path between Deering Avenue and State Street. A construction crew will remove this existing sidewalk and replace it with smooth reinforced concrete, and add granite stone curbing to the sidewalks. In total, they will be improving about 1,700 feet of walkway!

POP-UP PIANO IN THE PARK!

Looking for some musical adventure this Memorial Day weekend? From Friday, May 22nd through Tuesday, May 26th, our pop-up piano has a brand-new home.
Can you guess where it is? Here are your CLUES:

It’s a super popular spot for kids to cool off during the summer.
It’s located in one of Portland's most beloved, bustling parks.
It is sitting on the only cement bridge in a Portland park.
It’s a stone's throw away from our historic, 140-year-old Duckhouse!

How It Works:
Catch it while you can: The piano will randomly move to a new park every 2 to 4 days (weather permitting!).

Everyone is welcome: From chopsticks to Chopin, ALL skill levels are encouraged to play! Get outdoors, find the keys, and make some music.
Share the Magic!
If you find the piano and tickle the ivories, we want to see it! Share your photos or videos on social media or email them directly to [email protected].

A HUGE THANK YOU to on Forest Ave for generously providing and maintaining these beautiful pianos to make this project possible!
