Tuskegee NEXT APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN🎉🎉

🔴Are you a young adult interested in earning your private pilot and drone certifications?
The Tuskegee NEXT Summer Aviation Program is for students between the ages of 18-20 that want to pursue their aviation dreams! This total immersion flight program offers cadets a clear path toward their aviation careers through flight training, life skills, and educational assistance.

⚫The Fellowship program is for individuals 21-25 interested in furthering their aviation training. The 2-week immersion program helps participants prepare for professional and personal opportunities. Fellows will also have the chance to participate in an externship at the conclusion of the program!

Urban Wings and Aerospace Leadership Club strives to serve today’s young people by emulating the Character, Courage, and Commitment of the historic Tuskegee Airmen. Consistent with that vision our motto affirms that “We fly planes, but we study leadership.” Our partnership with Genesis Community Fellowship Church, generous community donations, and our reflection in the newsletter of the Port of Portland enable us to run a full class of middle school and junior high students in Fall, Winter, and Spring terms with a pair of week-long summer academies. It is a club not a program, giving youngsters practice at organization concepts as well as aviation skills. Parents and family play an active role, but it is the constant stream of active commercial pilots and aviators from across the country that add excitement and authenticity to our efforts. In particular, Tuskegee Airmen Lt. Val Archer of Atlanta is one of the founders of Urban Wings and donated his Bronze Medallion issued by the U.S. Congress in 2006. Urban Wings is going strong in the heart of the Winter term. Our mantra, “We fly planes, but we study Leadership” has attracted the support of the Port of Portland and local commercial pilots. Our twice weekly sessions at the Vanport International Flight Simulator Station are robust, rigorous, and fun. The middle and high school cadets practice maneuvers, study aerodynamics, and engage seasoned pilots that frequently visit and enrich their acquisition of flying skills and leadership attributes.

We belong to Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP).
