Yesterday, staff from all schools and District departments gathered for our annual Convocation celebration to connect, celebrate school and department spirit, and share in our collective excitement as we prepare to welcome back our students next week.

A huge thanks to 2026 Centennial graduate Yahir Castro for sharing his perspective as an alumni with our staff during this event!

Centennial recognizes July as Disability Pride Month, which celebrates disability identity and community. This month is observed annually each July, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), important legislation that provides legal protection for accessibility and inclusion in the U.S.

Disability Pride affirms the right of every person to be seen, valued, and included exactly as they are. This month provides an opportunity to honor the accomplishments and contributions of people with disabilities in various fields, including education, employment, arts, sports, science, government, and advocacy.

Juneteenth is a significant day of recognition, restoration, and celebration. Also known as Freedom Day, it commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in America were freed, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

In honor of Juneteenth, all Centennial schools and office buildings will be closed on Friday, June 19. Operations resume on Monday, June 22.
