Isabel Johnson, MTMS PTA President here. With today’s early closure, I’m once again reminded how important it is to keep advocating for fully funded schools. Our overheated buildings are just one more reminder. If you havent seen it yet, OR PTA VP of Legislation Robin Roemer recent op-ed is worth a read. PTA advocacy in action.

Oregon schools are in crisis, but state leaders are providing neither the funding nor the vision for how to improve the quality of students' education, writes Robin Roemer, vice president for legislative advocacy for the Oregon PTA.

The MTMS PTA will hold the last General meeting of the academic year via Zoom on Thursday, 5/22 at 6:30pm. We will be voting in the preliminary budget for next year and hope to elect officers. The following positions are in need of being filled: President, Vice President, Secretary, Communications Lead, Volunteer Coordinator and Membership Chair.

Incoming 6th grade families, this is a great way to get involved and to build community at middle school.

In order for the MTMT PTA to continue, the following positions would need to be filled: President and Secretary.

If these positions are not filled, there will not be a functioning PTA next year.

Further, we hope to fill positions of Vice President, Treasurer Elect, Communications Lead and Membership Lead.

The MTMS PTA will host a remote General PTA meeting on Thursday, 5/22. Zoom access will also be available. Link will be posted closer to the date.

We are hoping to find and elect a few new officers for next year. Postiions include President, Secretary and Communications Chair. Our current PTA board hopes to hold a vote to elect the new officers at the meeting.

MTMS PTA is participating in Bottle Drop and collecting cans to support our initiatives. We can make blue bottle drop bags available to families. Please comment here if you would like to fill a bag or bags.

1) The PTA is holding a Bottle Drop Fundraiser to support our teachers/classrooms. Blue Bottle Drop bags will be available in the office for any parents stopping by school or students to pick up.

In support of Earth Week, funds raised through Blue Bags during the specified period (April 15 – 26) are eligible for matching at 20% by Bottle drop.

We've had some good luck collecting cans and bottles at kid's spring sports events. Feel free to collect at your child's games or meets.

Flag Football Program starting at Franklin High School:

Excited to announce that we will have Flag Football this spring on Saturdays starting April 5- May 17 from 10am-12pm.

The practices will be held at Franklin High School and lead by coach’s of the youth program. This is a time for skill building, building relationships, and inner-squad games (non-contact)

This is not mandatory and no fee is required.
We ask all youth to bring cleats, water and dress for the weather.

5th to 8th graders are welcomed! If you know others who would benefit from or like to join, please invite and forward the email.

All coaches are trained and certified.
