Thank you all for the votes cast in favor of a sensible use of renewable natural resources!
We have started a conversation in this state which will only grow.
Our campaign spent only the bare minimum. We relied only on word of mouth to convey our message. This experiment in democracy was a pleasure for me.
I hope there are some who have followed us that are encouraged to stand for election. It only takes courage to do so.
We, in Oregon, are blessed to live in the midst of so much wealth and beauty.
Now is a time for reflection and seeking guidance as to what our next step should be.
For now, that is all.

We could enact IP 28.
This would be the biggest sales tax hike ever. This in a state which has rejected every attempt at installing a sales tax added to income tax added to property tax.
Only a 2.5% tax, at every level from the producer, to the manufacturer, to the packager, to the distributer, to the retailer, to your pocket, YOU pay a mere 10.5% more for Everything including food. That $3.00 gallon of milk becomes $3.30.

We could tell the State, get out of my pocket resouces, use your own pocket resources. Use your vast pocket, so big, so overflowing in wealth, use the natural resources.

We could, means you and I.

The election this May could result in more of the same failing policies of state leadership that we have had again and again in recent years. Failure to adequately fund road construction, public education and public safety. Failure to obtain quality jobs in sectors other than low-paying service jobs...

I was asked where I stand on gun control.

I am a US ARMY Veteran.
I am a former police officer.
I agree with the second ammendment.
Regulation of guns is a fact. We regulate guns. No one advocates for NO regulations of guns.
Legislation on guns must be aimed at keeping guns out of proscribed hands.
If such legislation will not do that then
It would not get my signature.
Mass deadly attacks are done by people who are severely disturbed.
If we put the money spent on trying to control a piece of iron, into understanding people in fragile mental health we would certainly reduce gun violence.

This is my position. I am very interested in a solution to gun violence. Show me proven methods. There needs to be a dialogue where we can effectively agree on ways to STOP the killing.

Open letter to:
Governor Kate Brown,
On 4/22/16, you were asked to debate.
You, Governor responded by asking when the ballots came out. The ballots are out now.
I ask again. Governor Brown will you debate any of your challengers to inform the voters?

Today's Rant.

OPB'S Geoff Norcross asked a question on morning edition today.

"Can either one of these candidates (republican candidates Alley and Pierce), beat Kate Brown in the fall ( general election)?"

Would someone please ask Geoff or his editor when was Governor Brown crowned the Democratic nominee?

I am in the Voter Pamphlet! I appear on page 6.

Next time you walk or jog, contemplate this.

If you were the size of Paul Bunyan and all the forests in Oregon were evenly distributed, every other step would be on a tree.

Esco is closing its Portland plant, in part, because of the challanges of operating in a Portland neighborhood.
True, other factors are involved in their decision. This State could do better in keeping a century long jobs partner, employing over 200!

An example of Oregon resource.

Uranium deposits are considered "locatable minerals" under The General Mining Law of 1872, as amended. That law opened the public lands of the United States to mineral acquisition by the location and maintenance of mining claims. The exploration and mining of these types of mineral deposits are admi…

Long overdue update!
On November 18, 2015, I filed, as a Democrat, for the May, 2016 Oregon Primary.
On January 12, 2016, the campaign website, sbjforgovernor.org, went live.
This campaign focus is three issues,
1). Jobs
2). Public Education
3). Resource Preservation, Exploitation
The campaign continues seeking sound advice from all, as to the best course, on these and other issues. YES, I as the candidate, have what I believe, are reasonable, practical, informed and common sense ideas on how Oregon could take a leading role among Western States. I cannot emphasize enough how IMPORTANT, YOUR IDEAS, are. So please, feel free to contact the campaign! After all, Oregon is you.
