Exciting news! The Oregon Department of Human Services is bringing our foster care and resource family pages together to make it easier for you to find the information you need. And the best part? You don’t need to take any action! If you’re already following this account, you will automatically become a follower of the new account.

In the meantime, you may notice some aesthetic changes. Plus our account name will be changing to Foster.Oregon.gov. This change will allow us to merge our pages together without losing followers. Don’t worry – it’s still us!

We’re excited to have one central place to continue bringing you information about services and supports that can help all you current and soon-to-be resource families. 📣 Important Community Information for Our Resource Parents 📣

With the Portland Public School on strike, we want to make sure you have access to essential resources and support during this time. Here are some valuable links and information to help you navigate the situation:

1️⃣ Childcare Options and More:
Oregon Live has compiled a list of possible childcare options, camps, drop-in programs, and organizations that are expanding their hours and services during the strike. 2️⃣ PPS Family Resources during the Strike:

3️⃣ School Meals and Food Resources:
PPS will provide "grab and go" meals at more than half of school locations for all kids, ages 1-18, and current PPS students. More details: https://www.pps.net/Page/21474

School food pantries within PPS buildings are closed, but alternate "pop-up" food distribution locations are available. Check them out: https://foodfinder.oregonfoodbank.org/

4️⃣ SNAP & WIC Assistance:
Families affected by the strike can apply for or update their information for SNAP and WIC food benefits. For help with the application process, connect with MultCo SNAP Outreach.

5️⃣ SUN Community School Resources:
Some SUN Community School agencies will offer programming at alternate locations during the strike. Families who attend a SUN community school within PPS can contact their SUN Site Manager for more information. We have an important update to share with you regarding Early Learning Division Child Care Subsidy (ERDC) benefits. Time is running out to secure these crucial benefits for your family, so please read on!

🕛 Application Deadline: November 3rd, 11:59 PM 🕛

If you are a resource parent in need of ERDC benefits, we strongly urge you to submit your application before the fast-approaching deadline. After this time, the program will be running a waitlist, and we want to make sure you receive the support you need.

Winter Break for public schools in this area is 12/18-12/29

PP&R’s Winter Break camp is 12/18 to 12/22 and 12/26 to 12/29, 9-5 each day.

The cost is for Winter Break Camp is $168 for Portland residents and the Access Pass can provide up to 90% discount – eligibility based on income and household size.
