Thanks for taking the time to come downtown, Congresswoman Bynum. It was great to catch up, discuss the day-to-day of representing Portlanders, and hear about the work you’re doing to represent Portland and beyond in Congress.

Of course I didn’t miss Burger Week. I stopped by Urban Farmer for lunch and tried their French Onion Smash Burger with some fries. Great food, good times.

Where have you stopped for a burger this week?

I voted yes to approve the term sheet outlining the framework for renovating the City-owned Moda Center. I’m glad to see this process moving forward, and I trust our negotiation team to secure a strong deal for Portland.

I'm looking forward to joining the Hillsdale Neighborhood Association for National Night Out next week. It's a picnic-style event, so be sure to bring your own food.

We'll be gathering at Dewitt Park on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. for an evening of community, music, entertainment, and activities for all ages.

What will you be bringing to the picnic?

Come walk the waterfront with me, my District 4 colleagues, and Oregon Walks.

We'll start the morning with a cup of coffee before walking along the waterfront and talking about what's on your mind when it comes to Portland.

The event starts at Salmon Springs on Tuesday, August 11 at 8:00 a.m. See you there!

I'm bringing my surveillance-based pricing proposal forward now because the best time to prevent unfair pricing practices is before it becomes part of everyday shopping.

My proposal will prohibit businesses from using personally identifiable information and algorithms to charge some customers higher prices than others for the same product.

I've worked with members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 union (UFCW) and stakeholders from the Northwest Grocery Retail Association to develop language that prohibits personalized pricing, limits how often prices can increase, and preserves loyalty programs, rewards programs, and other discounts that help Portlanders save money.

Help shape this proposal by submitting written testimony or sharing your story during the City Life Committee meeting on August 11 at 2:00 p.m. Registration for public testimony opens August 7.
