Never pass up an opportunity to teach fire safety to the children!

Ladder 4 from North Deering Fire Station responded to a day care for an alarm and once they were done with the emergency they took the time to educate the kids there. They did an impromptu fire safety education class focusing on what to do when they hear a fire alarm. They had a great time and are seen here putting up the 4️⃣ for Ladder 4🚒!

1️⃣ Keep the spark alive, but extinguish the candles before leaving the room.
2️⃣ Don't let love blind you to the importance of working smoke detectors. Test them regularly!
3️⃣ If you're heating things up in the kitchen, never leave your cooking unattended.
4️⃣ Make sure your escape plan is as solid as your relationship. Practice it together!

Today is the anniversary of the line of duty death of Firefighter Joseph C. Cavallaro, Jr. who died while fighting a 3 alarm fire at the Phoenix nightclub, 83 Oak Street, on March 24, 1980. Firefighter Cavallaro died of burns and asphyxiation during the interior firefight. He was only 26 years old and had been a member of the department for 2 years, serving on Engine 1 from the Munjoy Hill Fire Station
