The Foster Grandparent Program and Senior Companion Program, sponsored by The Opportunity Alliance, provide volunteer opportunities for people age 55 and over, interested in volunteering in schools, child development centers, Head Start, adult day programs and private homes throughout York, Cumberland, and Western Oxford counties. Volunteers living at less than 200% of poverty are eligible to rece

ive a non-taxable stipend in return for a 15 – 40 hour a week commitment. Non-stipended opportunities are available for those interested in 10 hours per week. Through the Foster Grandparent Program, volunteers are committing 15 to 40 hours a week in schools, child development centers, Head Start and homes, tutoring and mentoring children with special needs. Senior Companions make independence a reality for frail elders and their families through the provision of companionship to increase socialization, transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and other essential errands, and respite for family caregivers. On Thursday we took many of our volunteers on a boat tour through Casco Bay! We were lucky to have wonderful weather and had a fantastic day enjoying the sites together.

Thank you SP+ Parking for supplying the shuttle bus and the fantastic driver! They helped us safely get everyone from our parking lot to the boat and we are so thankful for their help.

Way to go Fran!
