Quay Quarter Tower is nominated for 2 WAF Awards!
QQT will compete in the category 'Completed Buildings – Office', and in ‘The Engineering Prize’, which is one of the special prize categories this year at the World Architecture Festival in Lisbon.
Quay Quarter Tower sets a new global benchmark in high performance design and innovation. Designed as a “vertical village”, the tower takes the ambience and social character of the street and translates it into a vertical community.
Most notably, in a world-first, around two-thirds of the building’s original core has been retained through the construction process, conserving around 12,000 tons of embodied carbon.
The construction is also world-first: The contractors Multiplex demolished and reconstructed one side of the tower, whilst simultaneously retaining and refurbishing the other side.
QQT is engineered to perform, utilising the latest innovations in building technology and advancing the latest thinking in workplace architecture and design. The large floorplates of approximately 2,000sqm provide a high degree of efficient, contiguous workspace, support a diversity in the type and character of spaces and allow a broad range of experiences to be created.
Quay Quarter is designed by 3XN and developed in partnership with BVN Architecture.
