Norfolk/Portsmouth Junior 4-H Camp

At 4-H camp, campers rise up to become counselors in training and then become counselors. They grow in ways that are humbling to those of us who watch from afar. They have talents that are sometimes unknown because they are humble. Please witness the talent of one of our Portsmouth counselors who grew up at camp.

The city of Portsmouth in partnership with Old Dominion University is seeking your help in completing a very important community survey. The purpose of the survey is to gather information on violence and crime prevention initiatives within the city. Funded by the city of Portsmouth, the study will also identify needs in the area of violence prevention and provide the basis for strategies to reduce the amount of violence in the city.

Below is a link to a web-based survey which will take only about 10 minutes to complete. Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary and is anonymous – please do not include any identifying information. The information collected will be used to develop a final report of “Community Risk and Protective Factors” for involvement in violence, this report will be completed in the summer of 2017.

https://odu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5usWle5ZCCawa69

We want to make every effort to encourage your participation. Your response can provide important information, along with surveys of other community leaders and activists, about the violence that Portsmouth residents face in their neighborhoods and the needed response. Please complete the survey by February 10th, 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of the ODU study team:
