Three Portsmouth elementary schools, Simonsdale, Westhaven and Hodges Manor, each received 25 bicycles to share with some very lucky students!

All schools, administrative offices and feeding sites will be closed from Monday, Dec. 21 through Friday, Jan. 1 for winter break. Classes and regular office hours resume Monday, Jan. 4. We hope you enjoy a happy winter break and we look forward to seeing you in 2021! #PPSShines
The PPS Athletics Department has suspended all conditioning and practices beginning tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 17. Practices can resume Monday, Jan. 4 upon the division's return from the upcoming Winter Break. Effective Thursday, Dec. 17, all Portsmouth Public Schools athletic practices and conditioning will be suspended throughout the Winter Break (Dec. 21-Jan.1). Athletic practices can resume on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Two current Portsmouth School Board members and three School Board members- elect recently took their oaths of office in individual swearing-in ceremonies held in the city’s Judicial Center. Clerk of Circuit Court Cynthia P. Morrison administered the oaths. All five School Board Members will serve from Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2024.
In its Thursday, Dec. 3 meeting, the Portsmouth School Board voted to officially change the name of three schools beginning July 1, 2021: Woodrow Wilson High School, James Hurst Elementary School and John Tyler Elementary School.
