SCIOTO COUNTY EFNEP territories. In Ohio, EFNEP is administered by Ohio State University Extension. The adult program serves adults with children in the household.

EFNEP is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and operates through Extension programs at land grant institutions in every state and in the six U.S. EFNEP is a free program offered in 18 counties in Ohio (see map below) and has two components - a youth program and an adult program. They learn how to make healthier, safer, and lower-cost food choices for themselves and their familie

s. They boost their ability to choose and buy food that is healthier for their families. They gain new skills in food preparation, storage, and safety. They learn how to better manage their food budgets, and how to increase their physical activity levels. The youth program is administered to children in Butler, Cuyahoga, Franklin, Hamilton, Montgomery, and Summit Counties. The children learn about nutrition, food preparation, food safety, and physical activity.

Our Story

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) can show you how to eat healthier and be more active even on a limited budget! By participating in EFNEP you will learn how to make food choices to improved the quality of the meals you serve your family. EFNEP offers a series of 90 minute classes in small groups that offer opportunities for talking and hands-on learning.

EFNEP teams up with local agencies and organizations. EFNEP is offered to families with children and the lessons are facilitated by specialists trained by Ohio State University Extension. You will receive class materials, recipes, and a certificate of completion. You can take classes in a group with family or friends. Best of all, the program is FREE!
