Temporary Closure City Hall Surface Parking Lot Exit

Beginning Tuesday, August 18 through Friday, August 21, 2026, the exit for the City Hall Surface Parking Lot will be closed due to Civic Center demolition work.

During this closure, the main entrance near City Hall will be a two-way traffic lane. Use caution when entering and exiting the lot closest to City Hall.

Street sweeping is scheduled August 17 - August 21 in multiple Portsmouth neighborhoods.

For optimal cleaning, please remove vehicles from the street by 7 a.m. On-street parking may resume at 4 p.m. Streets will not be swept on normal trash collection days.

A few favorites to explore:
🌳 Paradise Creek Nature Park – 2 miles of handicap-accessible trails & a kayak launch through the wetlands
🌱 City Park – 93 acres along the Elizabeth River, with piers, a playground, and more
🦅 Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve – 3+ miles of trails around a scenic lake, great for bird watching
