Take a stroll through over 150 years of history as part of your visit to the Posen Potato Festival! Discover how early settlers milled the grain that fed their families and livestock right here in this iconic three-story structure that has withstood the test of time and countless Northern Michigan winters.
Inside, you'll experience the evolution of milling technology and see firsthand how this remarkable building helped sustain generations. Every year, visitors say, “I’ve driven by this place my whole life and had no idea what was inside!” Now’s your chance to find out!

Historic Elowsky Grist Mill Tours, Friday and Saturday during the Posen Potato Festival. Take a walk back through time and experience one of the areas oldest structures, with museum quality equipment left behind from a bygone era. If you have never had the chance to see this gem of local history, come on out for a one-hour tour, Friday at 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00 PM. More tours on Saturday at 11:00, Noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 PM.

Historic Elowsky Grist Mill tours Friday September 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM, 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 PM. Saturday September 11, 2021 each hour beginning at 10:00 AM, with the last tour at 5:00 PM. $5.00 per person. Take a tour through 150 years of grist milling history, with generations of equipment inside used for decades to convert the grain grown on local farmland, into flour to feed many.

Historic Elowsky grist mill tours today, Saturday September 7. One hour tours with the first tour at 10:00 AM and last tour at 5:00 PM. Come see one of Posen's oldest structures, still standing since 1870. Complete exterior renovation completed in 2018 to protect the museum quality history of the grist mill process.

Come see a local fixture in Posen since the 1870's, with generations of milling equipment inside, showing the evolution of the milling process. Concessions available to include potato soup.

Throughout the history of the Posen area, this mill has been a part of it since the 1870's. Through the years it has seen many changes, up to the most recent exterior renovation completed in the spring of 2018. Many people have seen these changes as they drive by, but most have never been inside this grand structure to see the museum quality history of the grist mill process.
This year when you are in Posen for the 68th Annual Posen Potato Festival, make time to come out and see this local treasure.
