🚂 Public Safety Advisory: Union Pacific Big Boy Locomotive
Attention Residents:
The Posen Police Department has been notified that the historic Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive is scheduled to travel through the area this week.
For those planning to view this incredible piece of history, please be advised that the train is expected to pass through Blue Island and cross the intersection of 140th Street and Western Avenue at approximately 12:00 PM (Noon) this Thursday, June 4, 2026.
⚠️ Important Safety Reminders
While we understand the excitement surrounding this event, your safety is our top priority:
Stay Clear of Tracks: Never stand on or too close to the railroad tracks. The "Big Boy" is massive and creates significant wind displacement as it passes.
Obey All Signals: Always obey railroad crossing signals and gates. Never attempt to cross the tracks until the gates are fully raised and it is safe to do so.
Park Safely: If you are planning to watch, please ensure you are parked in a legal, designated area. Do not block emergency access routes or traffic flow.
Stay Alert: Keep a close watch on children and pets at all times.
No Trespassing: Do not trespass on private property or restricted railroad property to get a better view.
We encourage everyone to enjoy this unique sight safely. Please be mindful of traffic congestion in the area around noon and plan your travel accordingly.
Stay safe, Posen!

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: 140th & Western Ave ⚠️
Please be advised that the intersection of 140th Street and Western Avenue is currently blocked due to a train derailment.
Our Fire Department and Hazmat teams have thoroughly inspected the scene and confirmed that all derailed tanker cars are empty. We want to reassure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time.
While the scene is secure, cleanup efforts are underway. There is currently no estimated time for when the road will be cleared and reopened to traffic. Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation. We will provide further updates as they become available.
