Our Post

VFW Post 3603 was founded in 1972. One of our founding members was Former Mayor Larkin. Our post may be small, but we are mighty. We have members who have served in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Our goal is to serve our communities veterans, and their families. We need help. Our Commander is Josh Leuck. He is a Afghanistan/ Iraq War veteran. We need younger vets like him to join up. I know many of you are busy, but believe me when I tell you this, if we get enough younger veterans to join, we can make this post the best post in the state, and possible the Nation. We as a post want to bring the VFW back close to what it was following World War 2. Every week, or even twice a week, something was goon on at the post. It was the center of the community. They held dinners, lunches, breakfasts, fund raisers to help local veterans. Contests for middle school and high school students. Dances, and all different kinds of activities used to be held at the VFW hall. We want to bring it back. Our Commander has a vision, of our post having multiple activities for veterans, their families, and even the community. We have in the works plans for a WIFI cafe, Soda Bar, playstation or xbox game systems. Even a movie night for families and teens. We canโ€™t d0 this alone. Commander Josh is very much wanting the VFW to make a come back. When he was medically discharged from the Army, his family needed help relocating back to Idaho. This post helped Commander Josh and his family with a VFW unmet needs grant. You ask what is in it for me? The answer is simple. You get from the VFW what you put into it. Sure, the post can help financially somewhat. The VFW is meant for so much more. We meet every 4th Wednesday for our monthly meeting from 7 until 8:30 pm. With at potluck at 6pm. Our Auxiliary is brand new. They also need help. So come on out if you are a veteran who has served in a combat zone. Let us see if you are eligible to join.
